[6:7]  1 tn The Hebrew text has the singular “eye” here.

[6:7]  2 tn Or perhaps, “are swollen.”

[6:7]  3 tn Or perhaps, “grow old.”

[6:7]  4 sn In his weakened condition the psalmist is vulnerable to the taunts and threats of his enemies.

[69:3]  5 tn Or perhaps “raw”; Heb “burned; enflamed.”

[69:3]  6 tn Heb “my eyes fail from waiting for my God.” The psalmist has intently kept his eyes open, looking for God to intervene, but now his eyes are watery and bloodshot, impairing his vision.

[88:9]  7 tn Heb “I spread out my hands to you.” Spreading out the hands toward God was a prayer gesture (see Exod 9:29, 33; 1 Kgs 8:22, 38; 2 Chr 6:12-13, 29; Ezra 9:15; Job 11:13; Isa 1:15). The words “in prayer” have been supplied in the translation to clarify this.

[119:123]  8 tn Heb “my eyes fail for your deliverance.” The psalmist has intently kept his eyes open, looking for God to intervene, but now his eyes are watery and bloodshot, impairing his vision. See the similar phrase in v. 82.

[119:123]  9 tn Heb “and for the word of your faithfulness.”
